The names on the scoreline were LSU and Tennessee, but a more accurate description through three innings was a home run derby between the Tigers left-fielder and the Vols' third baseman.
Tennessee's Jake Rucker started off the derby in the first inning with a two-run home run off LSU starter Landon Marceaux.

But it only took one Tigers at-bat to respond. LSU leadoff man Dylan Crews worked back from an 0-2 count before launching a 3-2 fastball over the center field fence.

Both Marceaux and Tennessee starter Blade Tidwell worked through the second inning scoreless, but the pair wasn't done.
Rucker stepped back into the batter's box with one out, quickly launching a solo home run to right field. The second hit continued a hot streak that began late in the game Saturday evening, marking four consecutive at-bats with extra base hits.

The offensive explosion from Crews and Rucker was welcome for each squad, considering the other 16 batters in the game combined to go 1-for-20 with 7 strikeouts over the first three innings. The rest of the lineups began getting in on the action in the 4th inning. With Marceaux handing off the ball to freshman Garrett Edwards, Tennessee catcher Connor Pavolony launched a two-run shot of his own in the 4th inning, and Drew Gilbert's solo shot -- Tennessee's 4th home run of the day.
LSU first baseman Tre' Morgan led off the bottom of the fourth with a single, marking his first hit of the series.
