The Caesars Superdome crowd was on fire as Jameis Winston repeatedly escaped the pocket and scrambled for big gains, but the final one might've ended his day.
The Saints quarterback was hurt as he was brought down from behind by Devin White after Winston dipped and ducked his way out of heavy pressure in the pocket. White was penalized for a horsecollar tackle on the play after pulled down Winston from the rear of his pads.
Winston was ruled questionable to return with a knee injury.
Winston went down initially, then got up to his feet in clear discomfort. He went down again, with trainers attending to him on the field. He was helped off the field a few moments later, replaced by backup Trevor Siemian. Neither Ian Book nor Taysom Hill (concussion) were active for the game.
Winston's status the rest of the way is uncertain. The Saints and Bucs were tied 7-7 at the time of the injury. Siemian completed one pass for 5 yards, but threw two incompletions and the Saints punted midway through the second quarter.
