Alvin Kamara was the Saints' offense against the Seattle Seahawks, particularly in the first half, and he's now been recognized for that effort.

Kamara was named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week after rolling up 179 total yards (51 rushing, 129 receiving) and a pivotal touchdown en route to the 13-10 win.

It's the second such award for Kamara in his career, the first coming in an NFL-record-setting 6-touchdown performance against the Minnesota Vikings in the 2020 season. It also marks the second consecutive game a Saints player has won a weekly award, with Marshon Lattimore earning Defensive Player of the Week honors after a win over the Washington Football Team in Week 5.

As is often the case, Kamara did a bulk of his damage in the passing game. Kamara became the first running back since Brian Westbrook in 2004 to log 8 or more catches and over 100 yards receiving in the first half of a game. He was corralled a bit in the second half, with the Seahawks devoting bracket coverage his way, something rarely seen for a running back.

Kamara also earned a few career benchmarks in the game, becoming the fastest NFL player to reach 3,000 rushing yards and 3,000 receiving yards. He accomplished the feat in just 66 career games, four faster than San Francisco 49ers legend Roger Craig, who did it in 70 games. Kamara also moved past Saints running back Pierre Thomas to No. 5 on the Saints' all-time rushing list.

For the second consecutive game, a Saints player could also argue that they'd been snubbed. Linebacker Demario Davis made a compelling case to potentially sweep the award, but it still went to a New Orleans native. Falcons linebacker Deion Jones, a Jesuit alum and former LSU star, won the defensive award for the NFC. Another New Orleans native and LSU alum, Ja'Marr Chase, won the Offensive Player of the Week award for the AFC.
