The Saints held a 5th straight practice and was their 8th overall. For the 3rd consecutive day, wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith was not present after leaving practice Tuesday with what looked like a leg injury.

Tight ends Ethan Wolfe and Nick Vannett missed their 2nd straight day. No word on either, but the team has been hosting TEs for workouts and reportedly signed Josh Pederson Friday afternoon, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football.

QUARTERBACKS GET IT DONE

Thursday was rough for the offense, but they responded with a much better outing today. Jameis Winston was working with the first team and only had one incompletion in team drills, finishing 10 of 11. He made a nice pass to a wide-open Adam Trautman in the seam after the tight end used a double move.

“We used to see this with Jimmy Graham every practice, even Jared Cooke,” said WWL’s Bobby Hebert. “Our linebackers were sucked up and that was bad for the defense, because Marcus Williams got out of position. And, we don't need Marcus Williams out of position game one, when you're facing Aaron Rodgers. I'm sure he'll try and attack you on that same type throw with the seam.”

Taysom Hill’s day was going just fine until the final team period. Overall, he finished 7 of 11 with an interception. Hill had a pass batted down by LB Andrew Dowell, then underthrew TE Juwan Johnson, tried to come back for the ball, bobbled it, only to have LB Zack Baun swoop in and snag it for the interception.

D-LINE DISRUPTIVE

Its great seeing rookie Payton Turner being a pest.  The rookie abused some of the backup tackles, registering sacks on Winston and Hill. Since the pads have come on we’ve gotten a glimpse of what the Saints like so much in the 6ft7 pass rusher.

Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun Christian Ringo has been a guy who has been finding ways to get into everyone’s practice notes. This time, the Jackson, MS product made a really nice tackle for loss on stud running back Alvin Kamara.

The old man of the group, Cam Jordan was pretty active after a veteran’s day off on Thursday. The 34-year-old got around the edge towards to end of practice to register a sack on Jameis Winston.
