Five juvenile offenders who escaped from the Bridge City Center for Youth are back in custody, WWL-TV reports.
The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice told the station the fifth escapee was captured Friday. Three of the escapees were apprehended shortly after the escape Thursday, and the fourth was arrested a few hours later.
State Senator Pat Connick says he wants to state to figure out a new place to incarcerate criminal youths, and close the Bridge City facility down.
"There is a facility called Jetson that they have mothballed, they have to reopen that facility, we have to get funding for that and move these kids out of there, and they ar kids" said Connick, "we got to do something for the ones who want to be saved and lock up the ones who have no concern for the health and safety of others."
