A Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputy shot a man multiple times in Metairie shortly before noon on Tuesday the sheriff's office says.

According to authorities, narcotic agents were conducting an investigation in the 2500 block of Pasadena Ave. when a man approached, pointing a handgun at the detectives.
One of the law officers drew his gun and fired, striking the suspect.
"The incident was captured by multiple surveillance cameras and at least one bystander," said Capt. Jason Rivarde of JPSO. "That video is currently circulating on social media and confirms the statements of the detectives on scene."
The injured individual was treated on the scene before being taken to the hospital, officials said.
No one else was hurt.
