Holiday parade time, route changed

Christmas in New Orleans

If you're planning to attend Children's Hospital New Orleans Holiday Parade on Saturday, you'll have to head out much earlier than you initially planned.

Organizers of that parade have changed the start time and starting location of the parade. According to our partners at NOLA.com, that change was made to accommodate the American Athletic Conference football championship game between Tulane/Central Florida, which is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

Now, the Holiday Parade, which was originally scheduled to start at 1 p.m., will begin at 11 a.m. The parade's new route will now line up on Elysian Fields Avenue near the Mississippi River before following North Peters and Decatur Streets to Canal Street. The procession will turn right on Canal and work its way to St. Charles Street. The parade will turn onto St. Charles and end at Lafayette Square Park.

Many of the hosts from WWL Radio will be riding in the parade. While this may be a holiday parade, organizers say paradegoers can still expect to catch throws from the floats.
