The New Orleans Police Department has arrested a juvenile later found to be an escapee from the juvenile justice center in Bridge City.
“At about 10:44 a.m., NOPD Second District officers had arrested a subject... who identified himself as Lance Brown on a charge of illegal possession of a stolen handgun. During the arrest, it was suspected that the arrested subject was providing a false name. Through further investigation, it was found that the subject had provided a false name and date of birth to arresting officers and that the subject’s identity was that of Jonathan Sheard,” said the NOPD in a report.
Sheard was arrested Tuesday for an unrelated crime that happened near Burdette and Fig streets.
The NOPD says a further search of Sheard’s name revealed that he had arrest warrants out of Jefferson Parish for aggravated escape, second-degree battery, possession of contraband in a penal facility, second-degree kidnapping, and simple robbery.
The warrants stemmed from an escape from the Bridge City Center for Youth on April 11.
Sheard was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
