The Louisiana Department of Health today reports 2,333,423 Louisianans have completed their COVID shots.

Based on the 2020 Census, that means just a fraction above half of all residents of the Pelican State have had either both doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot.

Of the fully-vaccinated, about 32 percent have received a booster shot. The CDC recommends a COVID shot booster for anyone 16 and older who had their final COVID shot six months ago or more.

2,636,829 Louisianans have had at least one shot. That is 56.6 percent of the population.

Health officials says it will take 70 percent or better to start slowing the pandemic.
