NOLA Council removes Brossett as budget chairman

Brossett

The New Orleans City Council today voted to remove Councilmember Jared Brossett as chairman of the budget committee. This follow's Brossett's DWI arrest earlier this week.

Brossett was absent from the meeting, after withdrawing from a debate the previous night for the city council at-large seat he is running for this fall. Brossett today announced he is suspending the campaign.

Police booked Brossett Monday after finding him passed out in the driver's seat while parked at a convenience store on Elysian Fields.

It was only a few blocks away from the site where Brossett was arrested the previous year on DWI charges after he crashed a city-owned vehicle. After that incident, Brossett agreed to counseling in lieu of sentencing.
