The New Orleans Police Department arrested one suspect and seeks two others in a child cruelty investigation.

Police say the crime happened January 22 at Arthur Ashe School on Gardena Street.

"In this incident, three assistant teachers at the school allegedly locked a non-verbal autistic child in a closet, causing the child to panic," said police. "School officials became aware of the incident, immediately removed the three suspects from the school and then notified police."

Monette Marie Angelain surrendered to authorities last week, police say, but two others, 37-year-old Jenea Cionne Gordon (left); and 47-year-old Patrice Denise Ancar (right), remain at large.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Special Victims Division Child Abuse detectives at (504) 658-5267, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).
