Suspect in Edna Karr student murder investigation turns himself in

UPDATE (4:10 PM): Tyrese Carter, 19, has been arrested by NOPD following the issuance of a warrant this morning for the murder of Edna Karr High student Keyron Ross. Carter reportedly turned himself in.

Investigators with the New Orleans Police Department have issued an arrest warrant for Tyrese Carter, 19, in connection with a January murder of an Edna Karr student in Algiers.

Police say the fatal shooting of Edna Karr student, Keyron Ross, 18, happened Jan. 26 in the 3800 block of Texas Drive.

“At about 9:26 p.m. on January 26, NOPD Fourth District detectives responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the 3700 block of Garden Oaks Drive," said an NOPD report. "Through further investigation, the location of occurrence was determined to be the 3800 block of Texas Drive. A male victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased."

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Carter as the perpetrator in this incident. Carter is wanted on one count of second-degree murder.
