The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the city's fifth homicide of 2023 on only the fourth day of the year.
According to NOPD spokesperson Aaron Looney, officers discovered the victim's body just before 9 a.m. Wednesday on South Carrollton Avenue.
Another NOPD spokesperson, Karen Boudrie, told WWL that the victim is an unidentified Black man whose body was found outside an abandoned business near the intersection of Carrollton and Olive Street. Boudrie added that the man suffered apparent blunt force trauma to his body.
