NOLA mayor: We need you to stay in, from this point forward

“This is the time to stay inside. Do not venture out…no sightseeing. This is very serious.”

That is New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s message to residents and visitors in the city.

Hurricane Ida is expected to pack 150 mph winds when she hits the city.

“We need you to stay in, from this point forward…all morning…all afternoon…all evening,” said Cantrell.

Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center say data from an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft and Doppler radar data indicate that Ida's maximum sustained winds at landfall were estimated to be 150 mph.

The forecast track calls for the eye of the hurricane to move near Houma, Thibodaux area.
