NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (1010 WINS) – A shooting at a New Jersey home left one person dead and wounded as many as four others, authorities said.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Homicide Unit confirmed with 1010 WINS that a man was killed in the shooting and that at least three others – two men and a woman – were also shot.
Gunfire rang out just before 4 a.m. near 46th Street and Dell Avenue, according to authorities. It's believe the gunfire started inside the home and spilled outside.
The man who died was shot in the head, while the three others were hit in the stomach, reports say.
The conditions of those injured wasn’t immediately known.
One person who knows two of the victims told 1010 WINS reporter Roger Stern they were a married couple who'd been out celebrating a birthday before the shooting.
Police are said to be searching for several people as they continue to investigate what sparked the shooting.
In a statement, Mayor Nicholas Sacco called the shooting "shocking and very disturbing'' but "in no way reflective'' of North Bergen.“As long as guns are so easily available, senseless acts of violence like this will unfortunately continue to occur,” Sacco said.
