NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Nearly a dozen people from a Brooklyn apartment building have been hospitalized in a carbon monoxide incident, officials say.
Eleven people from a three-story walk-up in Crown Heights were taken to area hospitals Sunday morning.
They were overcome around 7:45 a.m. Sunday in the building at 1615 Lincoln Pl., according to officials.
Three of the victims who became ill were taken to Cornell Medical Center in serious condition.
One of the victims, 46-year-old Dexter Boston, was taken out unconscious, according to his distraught mother, who provided 1010 WINS with a photo of him.
Fire officials say the source of the carbon monoxide was apparently from a faulty exhaust pipe on the basement boiler.
Officials say ventilation of the building was continuing Sunday afternoon.
