2 arrested following police chase in Jersey City after joy riding-car slams into pedestrian, 3 other vehicles

JERSEY CITY, NJ (1010 WINS) -- Two men were arrested Monday after a 30-year-old female pedestrian was reportedly hospitalized  after she was struck by a vehicle on a joy ride speedily traveling down a Jersey City street, that then proceeded to strike another 3 vehicles, before being taken into police custody following a police chase. 

"The HC [Hudson County> Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the @JCPoliceDept are currently investigating a pedestrian struck along with multiple vehicles being struck," the Hudson County Prosecutir's Office tweeted. "Avoid the area of West Side Avenue from Montgomery Street to Belmont Avenue in Jersey City. #JerseyCity @JCPDchief #HCPO."


Jersey City Police confirmed the arrests to 1010 WINS, but said it was not ready to describe the incident as a car-jacking, despite a report that did.

According to WABC-TV, after the vehicle struck the pedestrian, it struck a Citi Bike van, with one passenger, then a van with two women and six children inside, and then further down the street, another vehicle was struck.
