COLTS NECK, N.J (1010 WINS) – A Pennsylvania man may sue a New Jersey state lawmaker after he shamed him on Twitter for leaving a small tip.
Sen. Declan O'Scanlon posted a photo of Anthony Dierolf's check, which included a 74-cent tip on a $119 bill at a steakhouse in Colts Neck.
"Wow...have to work to qualify for my calling you out specifically as a jerk. But Anthony Dierlof qualifies. Ashley is a great waitress and wonderful human being. Certainly not a malicious bone in her body. Makes Anthony...a jerk. Live with your misplaced obnoxiousness," O'Scanlon wrote on Twitter.
Dierolf admitted it was a bad tip but said the service merited it.
"It is a terrible tip, of course," he told USA Today. "But when I get treated like a terrible customer, I just really reflected it back on her."
He said he's talked to lawyers and is thinking about suing the Republican senator over the tweet, which included his full name and the last four digits of his credit card number.
"There's no reason for a senator, or for even the waitress in that matter, to take a picture and share that information with anyone," Dierolf said.
