
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Nassau County health officials are monitoring 83 people who have visited mainland China or may have come in contact with the coronavirus, officials said Wednesday.
"We've got boots on the ground and we're monitoring this situation in Nassau very, very closely," Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said at a press conference held Wednesday.
Nassau health officials are working with both state and federal agencies to monitor the spread of the virus and are ready to "respond to any cases should they emerge," Curran adds.
Health officials says Nassau County still has no confirmed cases of the virus.
The office of emergency management will be coordinating with supplies and resources as needed with state partners.There have been six people tested so far, and as of now, five patients have been confirmed to not have it, health officials say. They are still awaiting results of one test.
