NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Thursday morning after taking off from Newark Liberty International Airport due to engine trouble.
The Toronto-bound Porter Airlines aircraft landed safely with one of its two engines turned off.
The Bombardier Q400 aircraft was carrying about 30 people.
"They seemed to be fine, yeah, they were happy, there wasn't any issues. They landed safely and the airport and the airline are taking good care of them," said airport executive director Carl Beardsley. "They're considered international travelers so they must remain within security screening."
The plane will remain in Scranton to be repaired, and another plane took passengers to Toronto.
