TRENTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Joe Biden on Thursday called on the Trump administration to implement a nationwide mask mandate immediately, saying the U.S. could save more than 40,000 lives in the next three months if it did so.
Speaking at a campaign event in Wilmington, Delaware Thursday afternoon, Biden said the mask mandate should go into effect “immediately.”
“A lot of people are dying. We’re up over 160,000 people dead so far,” he said. "So let’s institute a mask mandate nationwide, starting immediately, and we will save lives.”
“The estimates are we will save over 40,000 lives in the next three months if that is done,” he added. “There’s overwhelming evidence… that the mask… increases exponentially the prospect that you, if you are a carrier and you don’t even know it… will not infect anyone when you cough, sneeze, sing, shout.”
