NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A group of Black Lives Matter supporters held a protest outside the Queens home belonging to the leader of the city’s largest police union Wednesday night, less than a week after the union officially endorsed President Donald Trump in his bid for re-election.
Videos posted on social media show a few dozen protesters gathered outside New York City Police Benevolent Association president Pat Lynch’s house in Bayside.
In a statement provided to the New York Post, Lynch said the protesters “should realize they are wasting their time.”
“Their campaign of harassment and intimidation might have the politicians running scared, but it will have zero impact on the PBA,” he said.
Lynch and the PBA threw their support behind Trump during an event at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey on Aug. 14.
“I cannot remember when we’ve ever endorsed for the office of president of the United States, until now,” Lynch said at the event. “Mr. President, we’re fighting for our lives out there.”
“We need your strong voice across the country, to say, we have the support of law enforcement across this country,” he went on to say, adding that Trump “earned the endorsement.”
