Bronx girl kidnapped by father found following Amber Alert, father in custody

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Bronx toddler with autism who authorities say was kidnapped by her father Tuesday evening has been found, as has the suspect, police announced Thursday night.  

"The baby has been found and the individual is in custody. Thank you to all New Yorkers," tweeted NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea.

The dad, 21-year-old Christian Benitez, is not allowed to have unsupervised contact with 2-year-old Seniya, according to the NYPD. 

It's not clear why he's not allowed to be alone with her. 

Police said Wednesday morning they were searching for the girl and an Amber Alert was issued shortly before 2:30 p.m

The father was last seen traveling on the 6 Train at Castle Hille Avenue possibly heading for unknown direction.. 

The two of them were last seen around 7:20 p.m. near their home at Gleason and Castle Hill avenues in the Unionport section of the Bronx.

NBC4 reports that the girl's grandmother has legal custody over her and that her father took her after an argument with the grandmother. 

Seniya was last seen wearing a light colored coast and multi-colored pajamas. Her father was wearing a dark-colored coat and blue jeans.
