Bicyclist hospitalized after being struck by off-duty officer in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An off-duty NYPD officer struck and injured a bicyclist in Brooklyn on Tuesday.

 The incident occurred in Crown Heights at the corner of President Street and Brooklyn Avenue at about 5 p.m., authorities said.

The 27-year-old female officer was driving a Suzuki Kizashi sedan south on Brooklyn Avenue at the time of the collision the Daily News reports.

The cause of the accident is unclear, but the driver remained at the scene.The 30-year-old victim was riding a Grubhub electric bike and was taken to Kings County Hospital in critical condition.

He is now said to be stable, according to an NYPD spokesman.So far, there seems to be no criminality involved in the crash, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing.
