Citigroup’s fourth-quarter profits rose by 15% from a year earlier, as the bank benefited from a boost in trading similar to its competitor JPMorgan Chase. NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Citigroup Inc. said on Tuesday that it will temporary close up to 15 percent of its U.S. branches because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"As our clients and communities increasingly self-isolate, we have noticed shifts in foot traffic and market dynamics - so to best meet our changing customer needs we have begun to temporarily close branches," spokesman Drew Benson said.

The closures will likely take place by the end of the week.

Citigroup has about 700 branches, mostly located in 6 U.S. cities, including New York City.

At other branches, hours will be reduced.
