NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The New York City Council has released a plan with two fixes for an old section of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway – a capped highway or a tunnel.
The plan seeks to fix the triple-level section of the BQE between Atlantic Avenue and Sands Street in Brooklyn, which is need of repair.
In a tweet, City Council Speaker Corey Johnson said that the capped highway option would open up new spaces and improve connections to the waterfront, while the tunnel option would eliminate the expressway entirely through several Brooklyn neighborhoods.
The capped highway plan would cost about $3.2 billion, while the tunnel would cost $11 billion.
