NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Independence day in Coney Island means the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Wednesday morning is the ceremonial weigh-in at the Empire State Building.
Lats year, Joey Chestnut downed 74 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, establishing a new record.
He’s back again this year to defend his title.
This will be his 15th time at Coney Island.
He has only lost once since 2006, to Matt Stonie in 2015.
Stonie will be competing Thursday as well.
On the women’s side, Miki Sudo is back to defend the title she has held for five years.
She consumed 37 dogs last year.
