NEW YORK (1010 WINS) —  An NYPD officer was rammed by a vehicle on the FDR Drive on Thursday night, according to police.

At 8:50 p.m., officers attempted to stop a black BMW at 96th Street and First Avenue.

The car tried to ram the police vehicle and then took off down the FDR Drive.

Officers tracked down the car again at East 15th Street.

As the officers were walking up to the car, the driver hit reverse, clipping one of the cops as his partner fired off several shots.

Both passenger windows of the car were blown out by gunfire, which was later towed away and taken as evidence.

Chief of Department Terry Monahan says the officer who fired at the fleeing BMW may be in trouble with the department.

"The officer who discharged his firearm at the moving vehicle may have done so in violation of department guidelines," he said, "As a result he has been placed on modified assignment."

The injured officer was treated and released with cuts and bruises on his arms and legs at Bellevue Hospital.

A passengerin the vehicle walked into the hospital with a shoulder injury. Police have also arrested 23-year-old Veronica Jageeo.
