HARTFORD, C.T. (1010 WINS) -- Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont on Tuesday reported 77 new COVID-19 deaths and 315 new positive cases — the lowest number of new cases the state has had in weeks.

A total of 2,089 people in Connecticut have died of coronavirus-related complications, and 26,312 people have tested positive, Lamont said tuesday.

As of Tuesday, 1,732 people in the state were hospitalized with COVID-19, down from 26 on Monday, he noted. The state has tested a total of 92,745 people.

"We did a fair amount of testing… and only 315 positive cases," Lamont said. "Three hundred and fifteen is the lowest we've had in weeks. And that's about a 16 percent or so test rate, so we'll see if that indicates anything."

Hospitalizations are down for the sixth day in a row, he added.

"That's indicative of the fact that our hospitals have capacity. They're at about two-thirds capacity right now," he said. "And that's a good sign. And our ICUs even have more capacity."
