NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Coronavirus continues to take its toll on Connecticut, with Gov. Ned Lamont reporting a slew of new cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

Lamont said on Friday afternoon that there were 1,090 additional cases statewide of coronavirus since the previous day, bringing the statewide total to 4,914.

There had also been an additional 19 deaths, bringing the death toll to 131.

And an additional 82 people were hospitalized in the state, bringing the total hospitalizations total to 909.

More than 20,015 people have been tested, an increase of 1,715 since the previous day.

"This is a tough time for our state and a tough time for our country," Lamont said. He added that the peak won't take place until late April/early May.

Lamont also showed a graph that shows the expected spike of hospitalizations.

The state launched a campaign on Friday asking resident to volunteer with community organizations. "During times like this, it is critical that we come together as a community – as a family – and support our neighbors in this response effort," he said.
