Connecticut confirmed 412 new positive coronavirus cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases to 17,962, Lamont said.

The state also saw 41 new deaths, bringing the number of people in the state who have died to 1,127, according to Lamont.

Saturday saw 50 new deaths, while Friday saw 65, Lamont said.

As of Sunday, 1,901 people in the state were hospitalized with the virus, down from 1,938 on Saturday and 1,946 on Friday.

A total of 59,759 people have been tested for the virus.

"For the second straight day, the number of people hospitalized in CT due to complications caused by COVID-19 has slightly decreased, another step in the right direction and another sign that the efforts we've been taking as a community are having an impact on slowing the outbreak," Lamont wrote on Twitter.

"Whether this continues is dependent upon the actions each of us takes. This isn't over — we lost another 41 CT residents, and we mourn for their lives," he added. "Together, we can have an impact on flattening the curve, but if people tell you the pandemic has ended — they are wrong."
