CORONAVIRUS IN CONNECTICUT: 13 new deaths, 124 new cases; date set for Phase 2 of reopening

HARTFORD, CT (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Ned Lamont on Monday reported 13 new COVID-19 deaths and 124 new cases — a day after he released guidelines for Phase 2 of the state's reopening on June 17.

A total of 44,092 people in Connecticut have now tested positive for COVID-19, and 4,084 have died, Lamont said during his daily briefing. 

As of Monday, 324 people were hospitalized with the virus, down by nine from Sunday. 

Connecticut is set to move into the second phase of its reopening on Wednesday, June 17. 

Phase 2 will include the following, according to guidelines Lamont's office released on Sunday: 

  • Amusement parks
  • Hotels
  • Indoor dining
  • Indoor museums, zoos and aquariums
  • Indoor recreation (e.g. bowling, movie theaters, etc.) 
  • Libraries
  • Outdoor events
  • Personal services (e.g. nail salons, tattoo parlors, etc.) 
  • Sports and fitness facilities (e.g. gyms, fitness centers, pools, etc.)
