NEWARK (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Phil Murphy said Wednesday that New Jersey had reported 3,649 new coronavirus cases, bringing the statewide total to 22,255 as the state announced it was pushing back its tax-filing deadline several months.

Murphy said another 91 people in New Jersey had died from the virus. The total number of fatalities in the state is now 355.
The death toll is up from 200 on Monday, when there were 16,000 cases in the state.
"We are in the fight of our lives, make no doubt about it, Murphy said.
New Jersey extended its tax-filing deadline for individuals and businesses from April 15 to July 15 as coronavirus cases continued to rise.
"The New Jersey state tax filing deadline WILL BE EXTENDED from April 15th to July 15th," Murphy tweeted Wednesday.
"Additionally, the state fiscal year will be extended to September 30th to allow us to focus on leading our state out of this crisis," Murphy wrote.
New York and Connecticut have already extended their tax filing deadline three months to July 15.
Among the dead were a 33-year-old firefighter from Passaic and a 30-year-old baseball coach from Cliffside Park.
Murphy said Wednesday that Janice Preschel, 60, of Teaneck was also among those who died. She was the founder of the Helping Hands Food Pantry.
The death toll is a reminder that the best thing residents can do is to continue to avoid social interactions, Murphy said.
"I cannot be any clearer in my call: Stay at home before this hits home. Please do your part to flatten this curve," Murphy said.
The state also received more protective gear from the federal government, and more counties are opening testing centers, according to the governor.
