TRENTON (1010 WINS) – Gov. Phil Murphy said Sunday that more than 400 more people in New Jersey had tested positive for the coronavirus as the state begins allowing visitors at long-term care facilities for the first time in months and personal care businesses like barbershops and beauty salons prepare to reopen Monday.

In a tweet, Murphy said there were 411 new positive cases, bringing the state's total to 169,142.

Murphy also reported 17 more deaths from COVID-19. The state's death toll is now 12,870.

A total of 1,105 people are hospitalized, 278 are in critical or intensive care and 219 are on ventilators, Murphy said.

New Jersey allowed visitors at the state's long-term care facilities—including hard-hit nursing homes—on Sunday, which is Father's Day. All visits must be held in designated areas outdoors, according to officials.

The following facilities can permit visitors in designated outdoor spaces: nursing homes, assisted living residences, dementia care homes, pediatric transitional care homes and comprehensive personal care homes.

New Jersey's official website has more information about restrictions in place at long-term care facilities.

Personal care businesses can reopen in the state starting Monday morning after Murphy signed an executive order last week.

The following services are permitted with restrictions under the order: cosmetology shops; barber shops; beauty salons; hair braiding shops; nail salons; electrology facilities; spas, including day spas and medical spas; massage parlors; tanning salons; and tattoo parlors.
