NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An investigator at the city Department of Correction allegedly attacked an officer during a drunk driving arrest in Ulster County over the weekend and is facing a felony assault charge, according to a report.
The New York Post reported that Alexandria Maldonado, 39, was pulled over by NYC Department of Environmental Protection Police on Route 28 in the town of Olive on Saturday night. During the arrest, she allegedly spat at an officer and scratched the face of an officer, police told the outlet.
"After consulting with the Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Maldonado was released into the custody of a friend" on a desk appearance ticket, a spokesman with DEP police said, according to the report.
The spokesman said she faces a second-degree assault charge, as well as a misdemeanor charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Maldonado is reportedly a supervising investigator at the Department of Correction. A spokesman for the department said she'd been suspended without pay, according to the report.
Maldonado told a Post reporter over the phone that she had "no comment."
