NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- More than 9 hours after police found a four-year-old girl wandering alone in a Brooklyn park, and were on the hunt for her family, officals said the girl's mother has been located.
The girl went missing after two employees of the Bam Bam's Playhouse Daycare Center failed to check the van after finishing a route on Monday morning and left the van, police say.
The employees, 76-year-old Anatoliy Elkin, the van's driver and 63-year-old Gilina Zabarnaya, a bus matron, have been charged with failing to exercise control over a minor.
"WITH EVERYONES HARD WORK AND INVESTIGATION, THE MOTHER OF THE LITTLE GIRL HAS BEEN FOUND! THANK GOODNESS!" read an NYPD tweet.
The girl -- whose name is Nicole -- was picked up by the NYPD Monday around 9:30 a.m. after she was spotted in the park. She was found Calvery Vaux Park, near 27th Avenue and Shore Parkway in Gravesend.
After being found, Nicole was brought to a hospital to be looked over.
"Anyone know this little girl?" tweeted the NYPD's Housing Bureau. "She was found walking by herself around Shore Parkway, in #Brooklyn #NewYork! She will be in the @NYPD60Pct right now!"
Apparently a driver of a daycare van failed to check the vehicle after he completed his route, and Nicole exited the van on her own.
