LONG BRANCH, N.J. (1010 WINS) – The wife of former Long Branch Mayor Philip Huhn was found shot to death at the couple's home Friday—and officials later said her death had been ruled a suicide.
The Asbury Park Press reported that June Huhn, 73, was found dead with a gunshot wound to her chest at her home on Norwood Avenue in Long Branch Friday morning.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccionni told the outlet that Philip Huhn, 75, was home at the time but didn't provide any other information.
"We're investigating a possible homicide," Gramiccionni said. "We can confirm that she died as a result of a gunshot wound."
Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Charles Webster later told the Asbury Park Press that her death had been ruled a suicide.
Philip Huhn was mayor of Long Branch from 1982 to 1990 and also served as business administrator of Neptune Township.
