NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Dr. Mikhail Varshavski, the doctor and influencer known to millions as Doctor Mike, spoke to 1010 WINS about the hype and the myths surrounding coronavirus.
He encouraged people to be alert, but not anxious about COVID-19.
In a Facebook Live and podcast interview, Doctor Mike reminded New Yorkers not to panic by buying out supplies. He particularly discouraged people from hoarding surgical masks, which are necessary in hospital situations and useful for those who are already sick, but not effective for people trying to prevent illness.
But he does want people to be aware, as the coronavirus spreads two or three times as quickly as the flu.
