JEFFERSON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Authorities say an off-duty police officer fatally shot his ex-wife and wounded her boyfriend in the town of Oak Ridge, New Jersey Sunday night.
Not long after the shooting occurred, Formisano drove to his parents' home in Livingston, where he was arrested early Monday.
Officials say the ex-wife died on the neighbor's doorstep.
Before being fatally shot, she apparently ran there for help, but was not let in by the neighbor.
It is believed the couple’s two children were in the house in Oak Ridge at the time.
Officials have not released the name of Formisano's ex-wife or her boyfriend or provided further details about his injuries.
Formisano is a 24-year veteran of the force and has been suspended without pay, according to Newark police.
