NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Thomas Lane, one of the four ex-Minneapolis police officers charged in connection with the death of George Floyd while he was in police custody, was released from Hennepin County Jail Wednesday afternoon after posting bond, according to his jail record (below).
As 1010 WINS reported earlier Wednesday, Lane's family is soliciting donations online for his legal defense fund. Lane's attorney Earl Gray confirmed to 1010 WINS the authenticity of the website, https://www.tomlane.org/, which includes a link to donate funds via a PayPal account. Gray declined to tell TMZ how the $750,000 cash bond was raised, just saying "it's pretty good news."
"Thomas Lane and his family appreciate your support and prayers during this time," reads a message on the website. "If you wish to give a gift, click the DONATE BUTTON."
Lane was charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and with aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter, along with two other officers. If convicted, he potentially could face up to 40 years in prison. The first former officer charged was Derek Chauvin, who is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
