NEW YORK (1010 WINS) As the covid-19 crisis continues to impact New York City, many pet parent now find themselves struggling to make ends meet. In some cases, sickness, a pay cut or the loss of a job altogether could mean having to surrender a beloved pet to a shelter.

My Natural Pet Shop, located at 8318 5th Avenue, has launched a pet food pantry, offering free pet food several days per week to anyone in need, no questions asked.
"Because we are a shop that's devoted to improving the health and well being of pets," owner Margo Tortorelis told 1010 WINS' Susan Richard, "it's natural for us to lead this effort to combat pet insecurity. We consider pets family and we do not want pet parents to have to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pets."
Several major pet food manufacturers have donated to the cause including Dave's Pet Food, Stella and Chewy and Weruva. My Natural Pet has also launched a GoFundMe page to raise enough money to keep it going through at least the end of the year.
