Ethiopian authorities say data from the black boxes show clear similarities between that crash and the crash of a Lion Air jet last year.
Boeing didn't say anything about the Ethiopian transport minister's comments on the similarities between the two crashes. The company instead focused on the fact that it is creating a software update for the safety system in the Max 8.
The Wall Street Journal reports, federal prosecutors and Department of Transportation Officials are scrutinizing the development of the Boeing 737 Max 8.
Sources say a grand jury investigation in Washington D.C. has issued a broad subpoena to at least one person involved in the plane's development. It also seeks related documents, including correspondence, emails, and other messages.
There's been no immediate comment from the Justice Department or the DOT. A Boeing spokesman declined to comment.
