NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – New York City may manage to dodge its first snow of the season Thursday, but instead looks to see chilly rain.
A fast-moving Alberta Clipper is expected to bring the first snow flakes of the season to parts of the Northeast later this week -- but New York City may be farther south than the snowflakes.
On Thursday night, a period of chilly rain, according to AccuWeather.
That same weather system will bring with it noticeably colder weather for Friday and Saturday, with highs closer to 40.
While New York City isn't guaranteed to be hit with snow, a slight deviation in the weather could mean the city gets snow.
"Just how close to the Atlantic coast rain will change over to snow remains a major question," said AccuWeather meteorologist Bill Deger. "If the storm tracks just a little farther south, New York City could mix with or even change over to all snow for a period during the storm."
But before the city has to deal with the possibility of snow, there will still be a few days of largely chilly weather.
Tuesday will be rather cloudy and milder with a couple of showers, mainly from late morning to early afternoon. High 60.
Tuesday night will be brisk and chillier, turning mainly clear. The low in the city will be 41 and mid-30s in the suburbs.
Wednesday will be sunny but chilly, with a high of 53.
And then on Thursday, before the possibility of late-night snow, there will be limited sun during the day with a of 54.
