NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, CNBC's former chief international correspondent, filed on Monday for a primary challenge to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Bronx-Queens seat in Congress.

Now that she is a candidate, CNBC said Caruso-Cabrera will no longer be appearing on the air.

Caruso-Cabrera will make a primary bid for the seat and will run as a Democrat in that party’s primary in the 14th District, according to a filing.

"I'm running for NY-14, to fight for the people of Queens & the Bronx, daughter of Cuban immigrants and living the American Dream," she said in a tweet.

She has been a registered Democrat for several years and published a book called "You Know I’m Right: More Prosperity, Less Government" in 2010.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez realized victory in 2018 after ousting Rep. Joe Crowley from his Queens district after 20 years.
