NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman—reportedly an out-of-town nurse helping New York City with the coronavirus outbreak—fought off an attempted rapist who had followed her into a Manhattan apartment building.
The 32-year-old woman was heading into a building on 149th Street in Hamilton Heights on Friday night when the man attacked her, according to police.
The suspect punched her in the face and tried to take off her pants, but the woman was able to fight the man off, police said.
Police said the suspect took off with the woman's cell phone.
The woman suffered bruising to her face but refused medical attention at the scene.
The New York Post reports that she's a nurse from Upstate who was in town to help fight the coronavirus.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect Sunday.
