NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Emotions ran high Sunday as the group Gays Against Guns did what they do after many mass shootings—gather in Times Square to protest.

The afternoon protest came in the wake of two shootings in El Paso and Dayton that left at least 29 people dead.

The activists were joined by guest speakers like House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, who slammed President Trump and the NRA.

“We are saturated in guns. We are floating in a sea of guns,” Nadler said.

He said the president is fanning the flames with his rhetoric about immigrants.

“Talking about people coming to this country as invaders, talking about the infestation of people who are going to commit murder and rape,” Nadler said, calling it “racist to the core.”

Marti Gould Cummings, an LGBTQ advocate who is with the mayor’s Nightlife Advisory Council, was also in attendance.

“It’s time to take our country back from the mass murderous white supremacy that has swept all 50 states,” Cummings said.

A dozen people wore white, carrying the pictures of those killed by gun violence. Others held signs reading “enough is enough” and listing the casualty numbers from the last four mass shootings, starting with the one at a party in Brownsville, Brooklyn, a week ago.

Many of them laid the mass shootings at the feet of the president.

“Gun violence is being fueled by the hatred of this administration, by white supremacy, by misogyny, by xenophobia,” said organizer Brigid McGinn.
