The votes are in, and one town's newest mayor beat out a real dog of a candidate - literally.

Meet Lincoln- he's a three-year-old Nubian goat who was just elected to lead Fair Haven, Vermont. He won over Sammie, a dog, by just two votes.

Town Manager Joe Gunther opened the polls for the animal election because the town didn't have a human mayor in the role. It was also a way to help fundraise a new school playground. For a $5 donation, residents could nominate pets for mayoral office.

Once Lincoln's sworn in, he'll serve a one-year term, and one of his major duties will be marching in the Memorial Day parade.
