NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot near Crotona Park in the Bronx on Thursday morning, police said.
Sources told 1010 WINS that police are searching for three suspects in the shooting in the Claremont section.
The victim was shot in the stomach just before 9:30 a.m. at East 171st Street and Crotona Place.
Police responded and drove him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was taken into surgery in critical condition and later died.
The NYPD identified him as Javits Frimpong, who lived less than a block away from where he was shot.
There are several schools in the area, though police couldn't immediately confirm reports that he was walking to school at the time of the shooting.
A pair of sneakers was still on the ground as detectives investigated into the afternoon.
No arrests have been reported.
