GREENWICH, Conn. (1010 WINS) -- A family of Greenwich Police Officers will be working together for the first time Thursday.

Sgt. Michael O’Connor Sr., is retiring in a few weeks but will be working with his three sons, who are all Greenwich Police Officers for the first time.

Greenwich police arranged for the family to work on the same shift, allowing O'Connor's sons to rotate and be able to ride with their dad.

"It's a little difficult to talk sometimes, but i'm very proud." Sgt. O'Connor said about being able to work with his sons.

"Today, to have him in the car was a cool experience." said Officer Billy O'Connor about being able to work alongside his father.

Officer Pat O'Connor described that his family grew up in police culture. "All my memories are of him in a police uniform, pulling up in a cruiser." he said.

Sgt. O’Connor is a lifelong resident of Greenwich and has been serving this community for 43 years.

He began his career as a volunteer firefighter in 1976, became a police dispatcher in 1984 and became a Greenwich Police officer on July 6, 1984.

O’Connor will not full leave the force and will still work as a part-time special police officer.
