RUTHERFORD, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- It's National Pork Roll Day and the debate still rages on.
The pork roll, also called Taylor ham depending on who you ask was invented in the mid-19th century by John Taylor, who in the beginning called it Taylor's Prepared Ham.
Garden State residents may never agree on what the correct name for it is, but what they can agree on is that it has become a breakfast staple.
Most enjoy their pork roll as served a sandwich served with cheese and a fried egg on a hard roll, but innovative ways of consuming it have been created across the state.
